2.0 is a bollywood based science fiction upcoming movie.It is directed by S.Shankar and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah. This film is a spiritual sequal of tamil movie enthiran.

This movie is featuring Sir Rajinikanth who is very popular for his acting not only in india but in others countries too. This movie also features Sir Akshay Kumar, again a bollywood actor and Amy Jackson.

The estimated budget for this movie is about 543 crores. This is the most expensive movie ever made in india till now.

The movie was to be released in two languages hindi and tamil but now it will be released in 13 other languages.

The release date for this movie is 29^th November, 2018.

Movie’s teaser trailer was released in 2D on YouTube and in 3D on the big screen of movie theatres on 13^th September, 2018.

Shankar wanted the title of the film should be Robot 2 but due to some copyright issues it was changed to 2.0

Idea

After the great success of the tamil based movie Enthiran (Robot in Hindi and English), the makers of the movie decided immediately to make a sequel of this movie. The cinematographers of the movie revealed that they are working on a sequel o this movie in 2011. Director S.Shankar decided to unite with the same producers for this sequal.

Along with Shankar and Rajinikanth, famous composer A.R Rahman and editor Antony, remained in the development team for the sequel. Jayamohan was added in the team to help write dialogs.

It is produced under the banner of Lyca Productions which was owned by Subaskaran Allirajah. Pre production work was started in 2015.

Casting

There was a big hustle in casting the actors in this film. 2.0’s director said he approached many actors to do this film like Kamal Haasan, Aamir Khan, Vikram but all of them refuse to do the negative roll. Even Aamir Khan said he was given the role of Rajinikanth because of his health issues but Aamir Khan refuses the roll because he cannot potray himself in the character of robot when he close his eyes.

Shankar also approaches Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger but he demand a lot of money and then he approaches all time favorite bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who accepted this role.

Shooting

Shooting of this film was began on 16^th December, 2015 in Chennai with Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson.

Akshay Kumar began shooting for this film in March, 2016 at EPV Film City Studio in Chennai. They have shoot of 4-5 days in Delhi to shoot Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium scene.

There was plan of shooting a song portion in Morocco but it was canceled due to poor health condition of Rajinikanth sir. So team decided to build Morocco in Chennai with the help of VFX.

VFX work in the Rajinikanth movie has consumed most of the film’s budget. Director Shankar wants to set a benchmark with the film’s VFX work.  Around 3,000 VFX technicians from across the world has worked on this project.

Music of this film is composed by A.R. Rahman. The soundtrack has Hindi and tamil Tracks and is dubbed in Telugu. Once in an interview A.R Rahman said he was trying to make something new which do justice with Indian and Hollywood music.
