Mission Mangal
Overview:
Mission Mangal is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language drama film, based on true events of ISRO’s Mission of Mars. The film is directed by Jagan Shakti and co-produced by Akshay Kumar, R. Balki, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu. The film star casts include Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya and Sonakshi Sinha and is based on the success story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition.
Principal photography for the film was begun on November 2018, and it is scheduled to be theatrically released on 15th August 2019, on the occasion of India’s Independence Day. In November 2018, a copyright lawsuit was claimed against the makers of the film by Radha Bharadwaj.

Production
Mission Mangal was announced on 5th November 2018. Principal photography for the film began later in the time period. In early February, Taapsee Pannu finished her schedule of shooting. The Director initially had Mohanlal and Sridevi in mind for the roles played by Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. He recommends his script idea to Akshay Kumar while working as an associate director to R. Balki in Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man.
Marketing and Release
On 4th July 2019, the first look poster of the film was revealed by the twitter handle of Akshay Kumar. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically on 15th August 2019. The official teaser of the film was released on 9th July 2019 by Fox Star Studios.
